Happy Hours in LoDo, Denver

LoDo is the obvious answer when someone asks where to go for happy hour in Denver. Lower Downtown runs from Union Station east toward Coors Field and south through the Wynkoop corridor — a stretch packed tighter with bars per block than anywhere else in the city. After-work crowds start flowing in around 4pm, and by 5:30 on a Thursday it's genuinely hard to find a seat without a plan.

The good news: there are enough options that you can always find a spot.

What to Expect

LoDo leans toward sports bars, craft cocktail spots, and a surprisingly solid wine scene along the Blake Street corridor. Prices are mid-range — happy hour deals bring most drinks into the $5-$9 range. Crowds are mixed: downtown office workers, Rockies pre-gamers, tourists near Union Station, and locals who've been coming here long enough to know which spots actually have good deals.

Parking is rough after 5pm. Light Rail to Union Station or a rideshare drop on Wynkoop Street is the move.

Best Spots

The Front Porch (1215 15th St) runs a dead-simple happy hour — any standard drink for $5. No asterisks, no "select" caveats. You call it, it's five bucks. That kind of clarity is rare and appreciated.

Lincolns Denver (Wynkoop St) takes the flat-rate model even further: all drinks $5, including beer, wine, spirits, and mixers. They also do $5 Chili Mac during happy hour, plus $2 pizza slices on Tuesdays. A regular's spot through and through.

Pony Up (1808 Blake St) is a solid crowd-pleaser — $5 draft beers, $7 house wine, $9 cocktails, with Bavarian soft pretzels for $6 and chips & queso for $5.50. Works great for groups where not everyone agrees on what they're drinking.

Seven Grand (1855 Blake St) goes whiskey-forward: the happy hour combo is a Coors Banquet and a Barmen Bourbon shot for $8. Sapporo lager runs $5, house wine is $7. The room is dark and unhurried — exactly what a whiskey bar should be.

The Wild (1660 Wynkoop St) keeps it straightforward — $6 beer, $8 well drinks, $8 wine, $9 classic cocktails. Reliable and right on the Wynkoop strip.

The Velvet Cellar (1500 Wynkoop St) has a well-structured happy hour: draft beer and well spirits at $7, select cocktails and house wines at $9. The well spirits list is solid — Four Roses Bourbon, Mile High Vodka, Askur Gin, Agavales Tequila, Old Overholt Rye.

Call Me Pearl (1600 20th St) leans into house-infused vodkas during happy hour. Their lemon-infused vodka drinks run $7 — the Cosmopolitan and Lemon Drop Martini are both on the deal.

The Cooper Lounge (1701 Wynkoop St) is inside Union Station, upstairs in the Great Hall. Moscow Mules, Whiskey Sours, Margaritas, and Negronis all at $12 — not cheap, but the setting earns it.

Thirsty Lion (1605 Wynkoop St) runs a big cocktail happy hour: Moscow Mule, Margarita, and Spicy Mango Margarita all around $9-$10. Good for groups who want something festive.

Wynkoop Brewing Company (1634 18th St) is Denver's original brewpub and worth a stop on any LoDo crawl — check their website for current specials.

Tap Fourteen (1920 Blake St) has a rooftop beer garden overlooking LoDo — a summer essential. Check their site for current happy hour pricing.

Best Times to Visit

Tuesday through Thursday is the sweet spot — active enough to feel alive, but you can still get a seat. Fridays get crowded fast; show up before 5pm or just embrace the energy. Avoid Rockies game days unless you want to drink with 40,000 fans who've been in the sun since noon — which can be its own kind of fun.

Getting There

Light Rail (A, W, E, R lines) drops at Union Station, right in the neighborhood. Street parking fills up by 5pm most weekdays — garages near 16th Street Mall or Union Station are the better call.
