Happy Hours in South Broadway, Denver
South Broadway is one of Denver's most interesting commercial strips. You've got vintage furniture stores next to taco spots next to cocktail bars next to a wine bar that runs all-night Monday specials. The stretch from Broadway and 1st Avenue south toward Mississippi covers more personality per block than almost anywhere in the city.
Happy hour here serves a crowd that doesn't fit a single category โ young families, longtime South Denver residents, the art and antique crowd, and anyone who's figured out that Broadway has better deals than LoDo and half the pretension.
What to Expect
South Broadway's happy hours lean casual. You're not showing up in a blazer here โ the vibe is jeans, good taste in music, and an appreciation for value. The spots range from big-format entertainment venues (Punch Bowl Social) to intimate wine bars (Cana). Prices during happy hour are some of the most accessible in the city.
Street parking along Broadway is metered but usually findable. The neighborhood is on multiple RTD bus routes.
Best Spots
Postino Broadway (145 Broadway) is the South Broadway anchor. Wine happy hour is hard to beat: glasses of wine at $6 and pitchers of beer at $6. Postino is the wine bar formula that Denver has embraced entirely โ unpretentious, accessible, always crowded for a reason.
Punch Bowl Social (65 Broadway) is the big-format option โ bowling, arcade games, and a full bar with cocktail happy hours: Main Squeeze Punch and Highway 66 Hibiscus Punch at $5, Margarita, Old Fashioned, and Cosmopolitan at $6. The happy hour cocktails are genuinely solid, not the watered-down version you'd expect from an entertainment venue.
Desert Social (1312 S Broadway) is the neighborhood's Sonoran Desert-inspired cocktail bar, and the happy hour reflects the program: Hibiscus Margarita at $12, Agua de Casa at $10, Hibi Shot at $5. Not the cheapest on the strip, but the drinks are built around a real concept.
the L (46 Broadway) is closer to downtown on the Broadway strip โ check their site for current happy hour specials.
Monolith Brewing (1290 S Broadway) brings the craft brewery to the neighborhood โ check their site for taproom hours and current happy hour deals.
Cana Wine Bar (2554 S Broadway) runs one of the more specific happy hours on the strip: Monday is all-night happy hour with select wine by the glass at $7 and bottles at $28. On other days, check their site โ but if you're drinking on a Monday, Cana's all-night deal is one of the best in the city. They back it up with $4 Olives & Almonds and $8 Hummus & Pita.
The Local Move
Start at Postino for the obvious value wine play, then move south to Cana if the group pivots to a more focused wine experience. Punch Bowl Social is the right call for a mixed group where some people want to bowl and some people want to drink cocktails. Desert Social for when someone wants something more considered.
Best Times to Visit
South Broadway runs active most evenings, but Thursday through Saturday are peak energy. Monday is specifically the Cana night if wine-all-night-for-$7 sounds like the right plan. The strip has enough to do that a multi-stop evening (drinks, a bite, more drinks) works well here without needing to change neighborhoods.
Getting There
Multiple RTD bus routes run along Broadway from downtown. The neighborhood is about 1.5 miles south of downtown โ a short rideshare or a longer walk. Street parking along and off Broadway is available, metered on the main drag.
