RiNo Happy Hour Guide — Denver's Art District Bar Scene
RiNo — River North Art District — is where Denver's creative economy lives. The murals start around 25th Street and the density increases as you move north along Larimer and Walnut. The neighborhood has galleries, food halls, co-working spaces, and the kind of restaurants and bars that cater to people who care about what they're putting in their mouth.
Happy hour here is not an afterthought. These bars take their programs seriously.
The Neighborhood
RiNo runs along two main corridors: Larimer Street (western side, more cocktail-bar focused) and Walnut Street (eastern side, more brewery and wine bar focused). The two streets are parallel and within easy walking distance of each other, which makes multi-stop evenings straightforward.
The neighborhood is about a mile north of Union Station — easy rideshare, bikeable from downtown, or a 20-minute walk along the Platte River trail if the weather cooperates.
The Best Happy Hours
Barcelona Wine Bar — 2900 Larimer St
The headline deal in RiNo: 50% off all bottles of sparkling wine during happy hour. If you're going with a group and you want to drink well at a discount, this is the move. A bottle of sparkling at half price, split between two or three people, is an extremely civilized and affordable happy hour.
The rest of the happy hour menu fills out properly: $7 select cocktails and martinis, 7oz craft beer cans under $4, snacks under $8.50. Barcelona has a Spanish-influenced menu (think pintxos and small plates) that makes it easy to drink and eat without committing to a full dinner.
Emerald Eye — 1403 Larimer St
Emerald Eye is the serious cocktail bar on Larimer Street, and their happy hour drinks at $10 are legitimately well-made specialty cocktails, not the happy-hour-shortcut version. The Julian Falls — Pisco, Calvados, Lemon, Canela, Egg White, Black Walnut Bitters — and the Smoking & Drinking — Mezcal, Cio Ciaro, Mr. Black, Tobacco Bitters — are the signature offerings.
The room is small and intimate, the bartenders know their program, and $10 for a cocktail built around ingredients like that is a real deal.
Black Shirt Brewing Co and Craft Pizza Kitchen — 3719 Walnut St
Black Shirt's pizza-and-beer happy hour is the most practical option in RiNo: $2 off 16oz pours, $2 off Garlic Nots and small specialty pies, $4 off large specialty pies. If someone in your group is hungry and someone else wants craft beer and someone else can't make decisions, Black Shirt resolves all of it.
The Walnut Street location puts it at the brewery end of RiNo, easy to combine with a stop at Ratio or Odell if you're doing a beer-focused evening.
Corsica Wine Bar — 2801 Walnut St
Corsica sits on Walnut Street and focuses on wines from the Corsican islands and surrounding region — specific and worth exploring. Check their site for current happy hour specials. The wine focus pairs well with a stop at Barcelona on the same evening if you're going deep on wine.
Odell Brewing Five Points Brewhouse — 2945 Larimer St
Odell is the Fort Collins institution with a Larimer Street home in Denver. The brewing quality is consistently high — Odell has been doing this since 1989 — and the RiNo taproom fits the neighborhood well. Check their site for current happy hour pricing.
Ratio Beerworks — 2920 Larimer St
Ratio anchors the RiNo brewery scene with a consistent core lineup and a taproom designed for the neighborhood. The space is comfortable, the beer is good, and it's within easy walking distance of Black Shirt on Walnut and Odell on Larimer. Check their site for happy hour timing.
Mockingbird — 2737 Larimer St
Mockingbird is on the northern Larimer stretch — check their site for current specials and hours. Part of the extended Larimer Street bar corridor.
The RiNo Route
RiNo happy hours work geographically along two streets with easy connections between them.
Cocktail-first route: Start at Emerald Eye on Larimer (early, when the room is quieter and the bartenders have time to talk about the drinks), walk south to Barcelona Wine Bar for the sparkling wine deal, then decide if the evening extends to Corsica on Walnut.
Beer-first route: Start at Odell or Ratio on Larimer, walk east to Black Shirt on Walnut for the pizza-and-beer combo, end at Corsica if someone wants to switch to wine.
Group route: Barcelona Wine Bar first for the sparkling bottle deal (works best early when the patio has space), then Emerald Eye for the cocktail credibility, then Black Shirt for a late-night beer and pizza close.
Best Times to Visit
RiNo is active Thursday through Saturday evenings. Summer is peak season — the neighborhood's outdoor spaces and murals are part of the experience, and warm evenings make the walk between Larimer and Walnut more enjoyable. Wednesday evenings are surprisingly active in RiNo, particularly at Barcelona and the wine bars. Earlier in the happy hour window (4-5:30pm) gets you seats more easily at the cocktail bars.
Getting There
Rideshare to Larimer and 28th or 29th is the cleanest approach. The A Line Light Rail stops at 38th & Blake, which puts you at the northeastern edge of the neighborhood — a 10-minute walk to most of the main spots. Parking on Walnut and Larimer is tight on weekend evenings; transit or rideshare is better.
